Employment Opportunities

Veterinary Technician Position

Experienced veterinary technician needed for full-time employment.

The Amherst Animal Hospital is seeking a full-time veterinary technician to join our 4 doctor small animal practice. Our veterinary hospital has been successful for over 30 years by providing exceptional care for our patients. We accomplish this by helping the clients to make educated decisions regarding their pet's health care. Our team's best qualities are honesty, responsibility, and compassion. We strive to treat our clients and our co-workers as we would want to be treated.

Our facility contains five examination rooms, two complete surgical suites, ten wards for hospitalization and isolation of patients, and an apartment above for our treatment and emergency technician. Our instrumentation includes an Eklin DR digital radiography system, Seimens ultrasound, Fuji endoscope, and a comprehensive in-house laboratory with Heska and Idexx chemistry analyzers and Scil hematology machine. Staff veterinarians perform most surgeries and a board-certified surgeon is available for complex procedures. Our independent hospital evaluates and integrates new therapeutics, diagnostics, and technology to enhance the level of patient care and client service.

This opportunity is for a licensed or experienced veterinary technician who possesses exemplary animal handling skills and can communicate professionally with coworkers and clients.  Desirable skills include surgical patient monitoring, dental cleanings, radiography, client education, and diagnostic sample preparation.  The successful candidate will enjoy the challenges of a busy practice and work cooperatively with all staff members to provide the high level of care that is our hospital’s standard.

Our work schedule includes day, evening, and rotating weekend shifts.  Comprehensive benefits include employer-paid health insurance, long-term disability, and life insurance, employer-funded 401K plan, paid major holidays, accrued paid time off, and employee pet care discounts.

Please submit resume and cover letter via email to Lynn Frazier-Hines, CVT, at tex@amherstanimalhospital.com, or fax to (603)889-9923.
